First Full-Fledged Veterinary Hospital in Salasar Region
CHAMELI DEVI AGARWAL GAU CHIKITSALAYA
At the heart of Salasar Dham, inspired by deep compassion and devotion to Lord Balaji, stands the Chameli Devi Agarwal Gau Chikitsalaya — a pioneering initiative that serves as both a state-of-the-art veterinary hospital and a sanctuary for over 1600 cows. What began as a facility to care for injured or ill cows has now grown into a first-of-its-kind animal healthcare institution for the entire region.
The veterinary hospital is the only one of its scale in Salasar and its surrounding towns, equipped with modern infrastructure and an expert team of veterinarians, surgeons, nurses, and support staff. Key facilities include an OPD, IPD, ICU, diagnostic lab, X-ray unit, and a hydraulic animal ambulance — a transformative addition that allows the safe and humane transport of injured animals. While originally focused on cows, the hospital now extends its services to all kinds of animals and birds, many of whom are treated and sheltered until they fully recover.
Adjacent to the hospital, the cow shelter (Gaushala) has become a true haven for bovine care. With over 1600 cows under its wing, the shelter ensures excellent nutrition, medical attention, and environmental comfort for every resident. In response to the intense Rajasthan heat, a fogging mist system sprays a cooling mist every 30–40 seconds, keeping the cows refreshed. Drinking water is purified through an RO plant, and hydroponic fodder machines provide fresh, organic feed to support their health.
The shelter is also deeply rooted in spiritual devotion. Many devotees of Lord Balaji visit the Gaushala to personally feed the cows and perform rituals, finding peace and fulfilment in this sacred act of service. To ensure safety and care, more than 40 CCTV cameras monitor the premises, reflecting the commitment to transparency and animal welfare.
Today, the Chameli Devi Agarwal Gau Chikitsalaya is not just a medical centre or shelter — it is a symbol of compassion, innovation, and reverence for life. It has become a beloved destination for pilgrims and tourists, drawing admiration for its holistic approach to animal care and the spiritual experience it offers.
